The theme of the conference explored how digital technologies could be used to assist culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to achieve greater social inclusion and to maintain their linguistic and cultural identity.As a result of the conference MyLanguage Consortium will develop a platform for sharing projects, ideas and resources: "A digital ecosystem which partners with many to support and encourage the growth of multiple voices". Topics include:
- What might the digital future look like and how can we ensure inclusion for all?
- Understanding and responding to the information and cultural needs of culturally and linguistically diverse communities including youth, seniors and refugees
- Empowering communities to use new technologies to meet those needs.
- Showcasing innovative programs using Web 2.0, multimedia and open source software
- Building collaborative partnerships across sectors and with communities to develop multilingual resources and access.
- Demonstrating examples of existing community based projects
