  • iBIMS electronic Chinese Language Catalogue System

    In order to fulfil the needs of our Chinese users, in 1997 the Willoughby City Library implemented a new electronic Chinese catalogue system BIMS, developed by Kairos International in consultation with library staff.
    With the advance in library technology iBIMS was launched in July 2010. It has enhanced the quality and value of the library services to the Willoughby Chinese community and beyond.

    CyberYouth is a volunteer program targeted, but not limited to, newly arrived migrants and refugees. It offers one on one computer tutoring over 10 weeks , the outcome being a resume.

  • Tales from many cities: myths, legends and fairy stories from around the world

    The local CALD community, submitted folk stories, fairy tales, myths and legends that their parents used to tell or read to them when they were young.

     Fairfield Library has been collecting the Oral Histories of its residents and has now achieved over 200 recordings, from people of backgrounds including, Assyrian, Lao, Polish, Spanish, Vietnamese,

  • Sunshine Coast Libraries Adult Literacy Program

    Program To assist CALD community members  to become functionally literate in Australian English and in breaking down the barriers between them and the general population.

  • Hume bilingual storytimes in the community

    This program primarily targets pre-school aged children in response to the needs of communities to maintain their culture, socialise with others and for parents and children to learn. The storytime sessions are currently conducted in Arabic, Turkish, Assyrian-Chaldean and Hindi.
