Project description and objectives
To assist community members from CALD backgrounds to become functionally literate in Australian English and to assist in some in breaking down the barriers between them and the general population.
Staffing and volunteers
1 part time permanent staff (guaranteed by Council); 2 casual staff (positions not guaranteed by Council – only funded if enough grant monies available), 2 contract teachers, 3 volunteer TESOL trained teachers; 50+ volunteer tutors.

Funding sourcesState Government (CLP grant); ‘in-kind’ Sunshine Coast Library support – not guaranteed.
Project began as a response to a demonstrated need within the community. Continual requests for assistance from the public and an increasing multicultural population.
Specific adult literacy library collections; adult literacy websites + link to IELTS website from Sunshine Coast library website; library computers laptops.
