Voices in Harmony Concert - 2013
The Voices in Harmony Concert for 2013 is a key initiative of the Multicultural Advantage Action Plan which outlines the NSW State Government’s commitment to multiculturalism.
The Concert is designed to foster respect and unity between and among different cultural, religious and linguistic groups to strengthen equity, community harmony and opportunity. It focuses on the celebration of choral music from a variety of cultures but will also include the performance of music forms from other cultures.
In the lead up to this exciting community event the Community Relations Commission For a multicultural NSW is running two competitions. One competition will lead to the design of a poster which will be used to promote the concert and celebrate the unique culture of NSW. This competition is open to every public and private high school and TAFE NSW college in NSW. The other is a competition open to aspiring or professional singers and songwriters to write a song which will be performed at the finale of the Voices in Harmony concert. Aspiring or professional singers and songwriters are invited to write a song to promote the Premier’s Voices in Harmony Concert. The song writing competition, and the Concert itself, is about celebrating NSW cultural diversity and emphasising our collective commitment to Australia.
The winning song will be the highlight of the Voices in Harmony Concert when all the singers and audience come together to sing as one in a grand finale. The winner will receive a $5000 cash prize.
